Second Nature: Where writing meets wellness
At the heart of Second Nature is an undiluted passion for creativity.
Being a creative often involves asking: How can we nurture our creativity so that it becomes second nature? How can creativity cease to be something separate or even simply a part of us, but rather our very essence?
Whilst our external surroundings and environment can influence our artistry, a profound shift can occur when we delve inward. If we allow ourselves time to explore this, we may find the channel of communication between us and artistic energy opens up, allowing it to flow towards us.
Our retreats have been born as a result of this ethos, and so we set out to support creatives by facilitating a combination of creative workshops and wellness practices that encourage a vibrant relationship with creativity, where you feel both inspired and grounded.
With the backdrop of the natural world to support this process, you'll reintegrate back into everyday life artistically energised, confident and nourished.
Our next retreat will be held from the 2 - 6th of September.
Our branches of belief
Writing
For so many of us, we use words and language to communicate our most inner thoughts and feelings to the world around us.
Whether it's as songwriters, poets, creative writers, or as people; the level of depth and power we put into crafting dialogue, is determined by the type of conversation we’re trying to have, and with whom.
Second Nature is proud to be the space that wholeheartedly embraces the exploration of self expression through writing, and facilitating an environment where your creative journey can flourish.
Wellness
There’s a reason as to why so many people find art therapeutic; it’s often the mind and body's way of healing, processing and expressing.
This can be a great source of self development, but at times the vulnerability and sensitivity required to do this can become challenging.
That is why, looking after our mental wellbeing as we create is so important.
If we’re constantly relying on individual experience and personal resource to inspire and provoke the art we make, then cultivating a safe personal space that offers the seeds of our creativity a chance to grow, is integral.
Nature
So much inspiration can be found in nature. It is the most constant source of creation that there is, all we have to do is take a look around to see just how much the natural world has produced.
There is no limitations as to what the outdoors can teach and provide us with. Which is why as we enter an abundance of creativity and mindfulness, tapping into the wonders and rhythms of the natural world to support our journey seems like it should be second nature.
'The object isn't to make art, it's to be in that wonderful state which makes art inevitable.'
– Robert Henri
